While working on an illustration commission, I found that I desperately needed to do something to loosen up, and remember why I do my art in the first place — to tap into my own feelings and make them visible somehow. These abstract paintings I call my “sanity practice”. The acrylic paintings are typically done late at night, when the house is quiet and the light is soft. I keep painting until something satisfies me deep in my bones. I also often work in multiples. All are works on paper.
